KG Cargo arranges international freight to and from Bulgaria by air, ocean, road and rail, with customs clearance where required. One coordinator runs your shipment from enquiry to delivery, and every quote is written for your specific cargo, with no hidden charges on the invoice.
Main international transport modes
We cover four transport modes. For each enquiry we compare at least two options on transit time, total cost and risk.
Air freight
Express 24–48 hours for time-critical cargo, standard 1–3 days, economy 7–10 days. Dangerous goods handled under IATA DGR. Regular lanes between Bulgaria and the USA, and from China to Bulgaria.
Ocean freight
FCL containers and LCL groupage from Asia, the Middle East and the USA to Varna and Burgas. Regular services from China and India, including Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen and Mumbai. Demurrage and detention managed actively; terminal charges shown in the quote.
Road freight
FTL, LTL and weekly groupage from Sofia to the whole of Europe, including the UK, Switzerland and Norway. CMR documents, ADR where it applies. Transit takes 2–8 working days depending on the destination.
Rail freight from China
The middle ground between ocean and air for imports from China. Departures from Chengdu and Xian, through hubs in Poland and Hungary to Sofia. Suits shipments of roughly 1–15 CBM.

Customs clearance
Import and export outside the EU: tariff code, documents (EUR.1, Form A, A.TR), coordination with licensed customs agents, and follow-up on inspections.
Cargo insurance
ICC A, B or C cover arranged for your shipment. Worth having whenever the value of the goods exceeds the carrier’s liability limit.
Logistics consulting
A review of how your freight moves today, from modes and Incoterms to routing and documents, with concrete changes where they save time or money.
Special logistics services
Ship spares delivered to the vessel at port, and courier shipments up to 30 kg per carton through DHL, UPS, FedEx and local European couriers.
Time-critical logistics
Charter, Next Flight Out (NFO), on-board courier (OBC) and dedicated van for AOG and other urgent cargo. Emergency air freight is arranged worldwide.
How to choose the right transport mode
Four factors decide the mode. At the enquiry stage we set out the trade-off between them instead of offering a single option.
- Weight and volume. Up to 500 kg usually means air or road. Above 1 m³ or 1 tonne, ocean (LCL/FCL) or rail, especially for imports from China.
- Deadline. 1–3 days: air. 2–8 working days: road within Europe. For ocean and rail from Asia the transit time depends on the current routing (vessels from Asia now sail around the Cape of Good Hope) and on the season, so we confirm it in the quote.
- Route. Europe and the UK: road (FTL, LTL, groupage). China to Bulgaria: ocean for volume, rail for a balance of time and volume. USA, Middle East, India: air or ocean depending on volume.
- Type of cargo. Dangerous goods (ADR, IATA DGR) need specific documents and approved carriers. For fragile or valuable goods we recommend cargo insurance on top of the carrier’s liability.

What is the difference between ocean and air freight for a shipment from Asia?
Ocean suits heavy or bulky cargo above roughly 1 m³ or 1 tonne: LCL groupage or FCL containers from Shanghai, Ningbo or Shenzhen. Its transit time depends on the current routing and the season, so we confirm it in the quote. Air suits time-critical cargo and smaller shipments up to about 500 kg: 1–3 days standard, 24–48 hours express. For 200–800 kg we compare both options on total cost and you choose.
When do I need customs clearance?
For any import or export outside the EU: China, the USA, the UK since Brexit, India, the Middle East and elsewhere. We coordinate with licensed customs agents in Bulgaria on declarations, the tariff code (HS/TARIC), documents (EUR.1, Form A, A.TR, B/L, AWB, CMR) and inspections. Shipments within the EU need transport documents only, no customs.
Do you handle urgent and AOG shipments?
Yes. Time-critical cargo has four options: an aircraft charter, Next Flight Out on a scheduled service, an on-board courier for hand-carry up to about 30 kg, and a dedicated van for 500–800 kg within Europe. AOG and emergency air freight is arranged worldwide.
